Lovely staff & great room.
Far too hot in restaurant. Had a lovely dinner with the intention of staying for a few drinks but went straight back to room instead due to the heaters turned up so high. Breakfast was lovely however the heaters were still cranked, couldn't wait to get out of there....what a shame.
I left Benefield in 1943 to join the raf and this was my first trip back to Oundle, where I went to school, since the early fifties -so this was a nostalgic visit with my wife and family. The Talbot then was out of the reach of most locals it appeared premarily for the Public School use. We all found the hotel staff great and very accommodating - no grumbles here what so ever. The meals also were excelent, both breakfast and dinner, they were also were very generious in there size and this did not detract from their quality. Oundle itself had not, seemed to me, to have changed a lot since then and was still a small country town going its own pace. Staying and being looked after at the Tolbot made it even more enjoyable. Please keep it up.
warm fires in the bar area
Beautiful setting. Helpful staff. Excellent rooms. Good food.
Main meal would have been better served on HOT plates. The cold plates did not enhance what was a very excellently cooked meal.
We were previous residents of the Oundle area and remembered the Talbot as this was our local watering hole. Although changed in many ways it still has that market town feel and charm about it.
The staff, the staff, the staff were top notch. The Talbot is a must experience accommodation if you are in the Nene river region.
No air conditioning in my room
Excellent combination of historic inn with modern hotel facilities. Very comfortable and relaxing. All staff friendly and helpful. Lovely restaurant and cafe serving good food in very pleasant surroundings. Nearby Stamford, full of history, is a short drive away.
Nothing - all very enjoyable.
Refurbished recently to a high standard food was good
The room was very hot even though heating turned off and window open
Design, Character,Comfort, Bathroom, Location, Breakfast & breakfast staff.
Reception separate from entrance therefore little or no interaction between the hotel staff and guests. No hotel information in room.
Location, facilities and staff all superb
Too many doors to the reception rooms : the place is always cold , and people frown at you when you come in ! Bizarre.
This is a very well run friendly hotel with everything you might need, comfortable rooms and good food with a choice of eating rooms from formal to casual. Breakfast cooked to order
Unfortunately my morning shower was tepid, may be just bad luck?
Everything. Staff, warmth, welcome, comfort, nice bathroom with lots of hot water, lovely bed, comfortable duvet, peace and quiet.
The music at breakfast! Although low it was the type that howls and wails, very penetrating and difficult to ignore.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived late, reception staff knew who we were and took us to our room , carrying our bag and explaining things. Lovely breakfast in fresh surroundings, excellent tea and coffee making facilities as well as clean, fresh bathroom. Newspaper delivered a promised. Great parking. Lovely fire in the hearth. The hotel delivered.
The whole experience ! The hotel is an extremely beautiful place with lots of history. You can feel the ambience even though the hotel is of a very good standard for the price.
Revamp of the hotel has been carried out very well. The public rooms on the ground floor are excellent - very welcoming and high quality. Great meeting place and for coffees, drinks, meals etc.
Upstairs bedrooms in the main building are rather small and the ensuite bathrooms likewise - this has a lot to do with the constraints of working with a Listed Building. It would be better to have fewer but larger rooms.
